PAIA Manual

1. Introduction

This manual is compiled in terms of Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, No. 2 of 2000 ("PAIA") as amended by the Protection of Personal Information Act, No. 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). It applies to Phadi & Co. Attorneys Inc. ("the Firm"), a private commercial law firm operating in South Africa.

3. Guide of the Information Regulator

The Information Regulator has compiled a guide containing information required by any person who wishes to exercise any right contemplated in PAIA and POPIA. The guide is available in all official South African languages on the Information Regulator website (inforegulator.org.za).

4. Records Held by the Firm

Phadi & Co. Attorneys Inc. holds records in the following categories for statutory and business purposes:

• Statutory & Corporate Records: Incorporation documents, resolutions, legal practice council registrations.
• Financial & Tax Records: Accounting records, VAT records, audited financial statements, tax submissions.
• Client & Transaction Records: Commercial contracts, litigation files, advisory mandates, FICA documentation.
• Operational Records: Asset registers, internal policies, vendor contracts, IT infrastructure records.

5. Procedure to Request Access to Records

To request access to records held by the Firm:

1. Complete the prescribed Form 2 (available on the Information Regulator's website).
2. Submit the completed form along with the required request fee to our Information Officer via email.
3. Provide sufficient details to enable us to identify the record and the requester's legal interest.
